Free Fall
By Andrew O. Leskinen
Yet here we are
Dreamers and schemers
And parrot head believers
Looking beyond what we are,
What we have become
Running from our own existence
Grasping and searching for our lives
Wondering where will we be
When our road runs out
Of pavement, rock, or sand
As we freefall through our eternity
Will ours be a life well lived
Or only a lived life
Step by step
Moment by moment
Life rushes past
A wasted moment will never return
Every forward moment needs to be lived.
Don’t be weighed down by
Vacant people chained to living
Seeking lost souls approval
For their own haunted lonely lives
Let them wallow in their sorrow
Rise above the suffocating quicksand
Of social acceptance
Live life as God intended
This beauty, this amazing creation
On which we stride
Wasn’t spread before your very soul
For you to bend your head,
Avert your eyes, and close your heart
Life, is a gift to live, not merely,
A burden to bear
