I Broke My Toe Today

I broke my toe today
There’s nothing more to say

My shoes were off
The lights were low
Bed was the place
I had to go

Chores were done
Bills were paid
All commitments
Had been made

Lights were out
Kids asleep
A warm cozy bed
A peaceful sleep

It just couldn’t happen
It was out of the question
Once before
I’d learned my lesson

I knew how far
I knew the way
Please somebody tell me
Who moved the doorway

I broke my toe today
